I can't say enough about being an LRP award recipient. In just a few years, I was able to eliminate $140,000 of my student loan debt, which allowed me to concentrate on advancing my academic/research career and not worry about how I was going to pay back my student loans. Receiving this type of recognition from the NIH is also a great thing to have on your CV and I think it really helped me in terms of securing a research grant from the American Cancer Society.
