Gabriela Navarro, MSW, LCSW

We are delighted to welcome Gabriela Navarro, MSW, LCSW as Assistant Professor and Director of Field Education in the Department of Social Work and Social Ecology. Ms. Navarro brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our team. She holds a Master of Social Work from Loma Linda University, where she excelled academically and was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the School of Behavioral Health Dean's Award for Master's Degree Programs and the Wil Alexander Whole Person Care Award. She previously earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Human Development, with a concentration in Life Span, from California State University San Bernardino. Her academic journey has been marked by excellence and a commitment to integrating her faith and professional practice.
 
Ms. Navarro's professional experience spans various roles in social work, most recently as a Medical ICU Social Worker at Loma Linda Medical Center. In this role, she demonstrated her expertise in providing mental health support, conducting assessments, developing discharge plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. Additionally, Ms. Navarro has served as an educator in the Social Work and Social Ecology department at Loma Linda University, where she has taught courses on professional development and clinical case consultation. Her dedication to mentorship and training new social workers highlights her leadership and commitment to the social work field.
 
Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Ms. Navarro is deeply involved in community service and volunteer work. She has led and participated in numerous mission trips to countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, and Ecuador, providing essential health and mental health services. Her extensive volunteer work within the Seventh-day Adventist community, including roles as an Adventurer Club Director/SECC Area Coordinator and Pathfinder Instructor, reflects her passion for serving others and promoting holistic well-being. Ms. Navarro's multifaceted background and unwavering dedication make her a valuable addition to our faculty, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have on our students and community.
