Dr. Donna Gallup, EdD, MSW is our newest Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Ecology, specializing in workforce development in human services with a dedicated focus on supporting vulnerable populations, particularly the homeless. She earned a doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership in May 2019 with her dissertation titled, "Partnerships and Nonprofit Leadership: The Influence of Nonprofit Managers on Community Partnerships." Dr. Gallup also holds a Master of Social Work in clinical social work, earned in May 2002, and a Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy with a concentration in Child Development, completed in June 1989.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Gallup has been contracted by the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) to perform a comprehensive needs assessment of the homeless workforce in LA County. This project, funded by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), aims to develop actionable recommendations for LA County universities to create relevant certificate or course programs addressing these needs. Dr. Gallup is also involved in important work with the Teen Think Tank Project, assessing the outcomes of a pilot program designed to foster growth mindset and intellectual humility among high school students. Furthermore, she provides consultancy services to First Day, a homeless nonprofit organization in Whittier.
Dr. Gallup has an impressive professional work history where she has maintained clinical leadership positions for the past 25 years. She also has extensive teaching experience using both in-person and online formats. Dr. Gallup's extensive expertise and dedication to vulnerable communities make her a valuable asset to the academic and social work communities. We are honored to welcome her to the School of Behavioral Health family.
