By School of Behavioral Health - October 10, 2024

Today, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day.

According to the World Health Organization, recognizing World Mental Health Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health needs and realities around the world.

The theme for this year is "It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace." This theme places emphasis on both self-care and social justice in the environments that affect our individual and shared wellbeing. So today, and every day, I encourage you to take time to not only attend to your own wellbeing—but to look around, and be cognizant of how others are doing. Extend your support to others in your community. Let us be advocates for healthier environments and continue to champion the expansion of mental health services for everyone.

In celebration of today, several of our School of Behavioral Health students have made brief videos of encouragement and support. Please watch their messages on our SBH social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X) and share them. Together, we can bring about positive change.

Sincerely,
Dr. Bev Buckles, Dean
