Examining the Psychosocial Needs of Older Adults Post-Incarceration
This mixed methods study examined the psychosocial needs of older adults post-incarceration. This study included 186 older adults who were recently released from parole, probation or prison. Qualitative interviews were conducted to inform the development of a survey that assessed mental health, post-incarceration needs and successful integration. Results indicated that older adults have unique needs compared to their younger counterparts post-release. In addition, older adults who had good mental health were more able to successfully integrate post-incarceration.
